KYOCERA 5908 Series | Advancing High-Speed Connectivity
Innovative Shielded Board-to-Board Connectors for Reliable EMI Protection

Kyocera Corporation (President: Hideo Tanimoto) has developed the 0.4 mm pitch 5908 Series board-to-board connector, which is the first in its lineup to feature a fully shielded structure. Sales of this product, which enhances EMI characteristics by suppressing electromagnetic interference and supports high-speed transmission, began on Thursday, July 31. 2025

5908 Series Connector
    Main Features:
  • Fully shielded structure provides excellent EMI characteristics, supporting high-speed data transmission
  • A unique locking mechanism increases robustness and improves retention force by 30%

As communication and information processing technologies advance, devices such as smartphones and smartwatches require increasingly sophisticated connectors. Enhancing EMI characteristics during high-speed transmission has become a significant challenge for these applications.

Kyocera addressed this challenge by introducing a fully shielded structure in the 0.4 mm pitch 5908 Series board-to-board connector, which effectively suppresses noise intrusion and leakage, offering excellent EMI characteristics.

MAIN FEATURES
1. Fully shielded structure provides excellent EMI characteristics, supporting high-speed transmission

A fully shielded structure has been adopted, in which the outer circumference of both the plug side
and the receptacle side is covered with a conductive metal (Figure 1). Since the fully shielded structure covers the main body and mating area of the connector with a metal shell, it can maximally suppress the intrusion and leakage of noise, thereby improving EMI characteristics. When mated, this product forms a double-shielded structure, allowing the electrical signal circuits to pass through the shield, which suppresses noise generation (Figure 2).

Supports high-speed transmission standards | PCI Express*3 Gen.3 (8Gbps) and USB*4 3.2 Gen.2 (10Gbps), etc.

structure and a fully shielded structure (5908 series) (analysis results)
2. Unique locking mechanism increases robustness and improves retention force by 30% | Both components also feature an R-shaped design to facilitate assembly and enhance workability.

The plug features a convex shape and the receptacle a concave shape, creating a locking structure that ensures secure mating and increases retention force by 30% compared to our previous products. Both components also feature an R-shaped design to facilitate assembly and enhance workability.
